01Services

Everything between an idea and a shipped app.

You work directly with the person writing the code. No account managers, no handoffs to a team you never meet, and no surprises in the invoice.

01

iOS & iPadOS Apps

  • Swift
  • SwiftUI
  • UIKit
  • SwiftData
  • Core Data
  • Combine

Native iPhone and iPad apps in Swift and SwiftUI — built to feel like they belong on the platform, then shipped through App Store review.

This is the core of what I do. Correct navigation semantics, real accessibility support, sensible offline behaviour, and an app that survives OS upgrades instead of breaking on them.

Shipping is included, not an afterthought: TestFlight builds, App Store Connect submission, review rejections handled, staged rollouts and crash monitoring after launch.

02

macOS Apps

  • Swift
  • SwiftUI
  • AppKit
  • Notarization
  • Sparkle

Real Mac software — menu bar utilities, document apps and full desktop tools that respect how people actually use a Mac.

A Mac app is not an iPad app in a window. Keyboard shortcuts, multiple windows, drag and drop, the menu bar and file system access all matter, and I build for them properly.

Distribution either way: Mac App Store, or signed and notarized outside it with automatic updates.

03

Windows Apps

  • .NET
  • C#
  • WinUI
  • Electron
  • MSI / MSIX

Desktop software for Windows, whether it stands alone or needs to behave identically to its Mac counterpart.

Useful when your users are on Windows and a browser tab will not do — background services, hardware access, offline-first tools, or an internal app that has to work on locked-down machines.

Includes installers, code signing and an update channel, so rolling out version two is not a manual exercise.

04

Websites & Web Apps

  • TypeScript
  • Astro
  • React
  • Tailwind
  • Cloudflare Workers

Marketing sites, product sites and web applications — fast, accessible, and cheap to run rather than bloated by default.

Everything from a landing page that has to convert to a full web app with accounts and billing. Built static-first where possible, so pages load instantly and hosting costs almost nothing.

This site is an example: it runs on the edge for the price of the domain.

05

Backend & APIs

  • Node.js
  • TypeScript
  • PostgreSQL
  • Cloudflare Workers
  • Redis
  • REST & GraphQL

The server side your app depends on — auth, sync, payments and push — designed so the client stays simple.

Most app problems are really API problems. I design the backend alongside the client so the two fit: predictable payloads, sane pagination, offline-tolerant sync, and authentication that does not leak into every screen.

Includes the operational side — deployments, migrations, monitoring and the runbook for when something breaks at an inconvenient hour.

06

Rescue & Modernization

  • Legacy audits
  • Refactoring
  • Test coverage
  • CI/CD
  • Migrations

Inherited something nobody wants to touch? I take over legacy codebases, stabilise them, and make them shippable again.

Objective-C that needs to become Swift. A build that only works on one laptop. An app two OS versions behind, or a server nobody has patched since the person who set it up left.

I start with an audit and a written plan, so you know the real cost before committing to it — and can decide to rebuild instead if that turns out cheaper.

02Working together

Three ways to engage.

Pick the shape that fits the problem. Not sure which? Describe the project and I'll tell you which one I'd recommend — including when the answer is 'you don't need me yet'.

Project

Fixed scope, fixed price

A defined build with an agreed deliverable and timeline. Best when you know what you need and want cost certainty.

  • Written scope up front
  • Milestone billing
  • Post-launch warranty period

Retainer

Monthly, ongoing

A reserved block of my time each month for continuous development, maintenance and releases.

  • Priority availability
  • Continuous releases
  • Cancel with 30 days notice

Audit

One to two weeks

A written assessment of an existing codebase: risk, effort, and whether fixing beats rebuilding.

  • Codebase review
  • Written findings
  • Costed recommendation

Let's build something

Have an app that needs building — or rescuing?

Tell me what you're working on. You'll get a straight answer about scope, cost and timeline within two business days — not a sales sequence.
